WELCOME TO DRIFTWOOD THERAPEUTIC SERVICES

ONLINE & FACE TO FACE COUNSELLING & PSYCHOTHERAPY SERVICES IN CHESTER, CHESHIRE

My name is Yvonne and I am a qualified counsellor and therapist.

You are most likely looking at my website because you have an issue you feel you, your child or your family need support with, I understand thinking about having counselling and seeing a therapist can be such a tricky decision to make.

I have aimed to make it as easy as possible for you to get a sense of if counselling and therapy is right for you and if so, how we might work together and answer important questions like where, what’s involved and how much does it cost.

It can be really daunting considering the experience of sitting with someone and talking about the issues you are dealing with. Hopefully this site can make this easier for you so that you can feel safe in considering your first appointment either face to face or online.

So please take a look around, and if there is anything else you need to know that is not already answered here, do not hesitate to contact me, using the details below and we can talk it through without pressure or obligation.

COUNSELLING & PSYCHOTHERAPY

How does Counselling and Psychotherapy work?

There are commonalities in counselling and psychotherapy, both concentrate upon creating a therapeutic relationship for the client to support them in discovering their inner resources to help them with the challenges they are facing.

Psychotherapy can be described as longer term in nature than counselling, which can be viewed as more focused on a particular area of difficulty. Psychotherapy seeks to explore and understand how our past maybe effecting us in the present especially around our understanding of ourselves and the potential patterns we may be repeating.

During the session

The sessions we have together, whether online or face to face in my small and comfortable space, are not about me giving you advice, my role is not to tell you how to ‘fix’ whatever is feeling wrong or provide a solution to a difficulty.

In our sessions you are the expert in your own life, but sometimes life is challenging, and throws up obstacles making it hard to find the best way forward. Some issues may be overcome but some may instead need support and thinking about how we live more easily with that particular situation or help you to gain a different perspective.

What you can expect

Therapy is a safe, neutral place you can use to explore what is happening for you, and thereby support you in deciding how to manage it.

I will not judge what you bring into our time together, our working relationship will be collaborative, respectful and confidential.

My role

My role is to facilitate and support you in your own understanding of or perspective on the difficulties you are experiencing and assist you in making your own choices about what is best for you in each instance. We do this by offering you a safe and respectful space to express how you feel, explore the way you think and manage situations, relationships and communication patterns.

Sometimes being able to step way from your usual environment, and the advice and opinions of well-meaning others can help you tap into your own strength and resilience. I am an integrative therapist so I will use differing approaches to help you understand and explore how you feel.

I am registered with the Information Commissioners Office to safeguard your data, and I will work within the boundaries of my ethical framework.
